50 Years of Meeting Students Where They Are at Metro High School

On May 30 METRO High School in Cedar Rapids celebrated its 50th Anniversary. To commemorate the day, a one-of-a-kind tree planting was a part of the celebration as METRO High School is the recipient of one of NASA's Artemis Moon Trees.

STEM Scale-Up Application Period Underway

Each year, programs are selected after a rigorous review process for the upcoming academic year. The STEM Council’s Executive Committee approved ten programs to be part of the 2018-19 STEM Scale-Up Program menu.

Ten STEM Scale-Up Programs Selected for 2018-2019 Academic Year

The Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council has selected ten STEM Scale-Up Programs to be offered during the 2018-2019 academic year. The STEM Scale-Up Program provides STEM educational opportunities to nearly 100,000 students each year. The application period for pre-K-12 schools, afterschool programs and other educational programs opens January 22, 2018.

Making a Difference with the I.O.W.A. STEM Teacher Award

For the past three years, the Governor's Advisory STEM Council has partnered with Kemin Industries to honor six STEM teachers who are inspiring students in Iowa. Award recipients receive $3,000, of which $1,500 goes towards their classroom.
