Regional STEM Advisory Board Members Convene to Share Practices

Regional STEM Advisory Board members from Iowa's six STEM regions attended a  "mega-meeting" to share ideas for increased impact.

The Iowa STEM Council’s implementation network consists of six geographic regions strategically positioned across Iowa. This structure helps deepen and broaden access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics educational and economic development opportunities and each region is supported by a Regional STEM Advisory Board with members appointed by the Governor. Excellence Across STEM Regions: Mega-convening of Regional Boards

Regional STEM Advisory Boards and the STEM Network Team met to collaborate on future priorities and opportunities.

More than 80 Iowans, made up of board members from each of the six STEM Regions and the STEM Network team, joined the Regional STEM Advisory Boards Virtual Mega Meeting earlier this month. The focus of the meeting was to share insights, exchange best practices and discuss future priorities and opportunities, thereby assuring a smooth landscape of excellence across the regions. STEM Knows No Borders: Midwest STEM Forum V

Midwest STEM leaders in downtown Madison, Wisconsin

Iowa STEM Council members from DuPont-Pioneer, Rockwell Collins and John Deere summoned the executive director in 2012 to encourage more inter-state collaboration, "After all," they said, "...our businesses span these state borders." Regional Boards: The Backbone of Iowa STEM

One of the earliest and most significant questions asked of and by the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council back in 2011 was how to deliver inspiration and innovation locally throughout the state. Northeast Regional STEM Advisory Board at South Winneshiek Community School District

Of the thousands of Iowans who power STEM throughout the state, a core cadre of nearly 150 people keep the wheels of progress turning. That group of 90 Regional STEM Advisory Board members and 47 members of the STEM Council is all appointed by Governor Branstad, all volunteers and all coordinated by one of six regional STEM managers as well as the STEM Council’s operations center at UNI.
