Joni Ehm Joins STEM Team as Southwest Regional STEM Manager

Joni Ehm joins the STEM Council as the Southwest Iowa Regional STEM Manager.

The STEM Council recently welcomed Joni Ehm as the new Southwest Regional STEM Manager operating out of Southwestern Community College. She joins five regional manager counterparts to effectively implement STEM programming, create connections and collaborate with community and business partners, educators and others to increase student interest and achievement in STEM education and careers. STEM as Workforce Development the Focus for Council Meeting 23

The STEM Advisory Council held its 23rd convening at the Urban Campus of Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Council members joined through a hybrid of in-person and online participation for a robust agenda of Regional STEM Hub Institution recognition, STEM program showcases, advancements on strategic planning and STEM Council course setting. The 22nd meeting of the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council.

The twenty-second convening of the STEM Advisory Council was held at the Iowa State University (ISU) Student Innovation Center on April 29. The Center offers space that inspires innovation through experimentation, interdisciplinary collaboration and idea exchange – all of which encompass the mission and goals set forth for the STEM Council. STEM Council Vision Sharpened in 2020

The STEM Advisory Council met in January 2020 to define priorities for the years to come.

January 31, 2020, the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council set about defining a course for the years to come. Strategizing commenced with small group discussions as to top priorities on the horizon. Over thirty imperatives were brought forth to be voted on, the highest frequency few to be advanced to action-planning. 2020 has been an unforgettable year. While it played out differently than anyone may have expected, STEM principles were spotlighted in many ways during this pandemic year. From medical professionals addressing mitigation efforts to statisticians analyzing patterns, the impact of STEM education in our everyday lives was even more apparent.
 

Governor's STEM Education Advisory Council Charts the Future

21st convening of the Governor's STEM Advisory Council.
With a mission of helping people connect to career goals and achieve financial stability, the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families set the stage for the 21st convening of the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council. The meeting primarily focused on sustainability and expansion of work-based learning.
 

New Council Members Join Quest to Advance STEM in Iowa

Gov. Kim Reynolds appointed 22 new members to the STEM Advisory Council.
Among the attributes that distinguish Iowa’s STEM education progress nationally, outstanding members who make up the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council figures prominently. Dedicated stakeholders from education, business and industry, nonprofits, agencies and legislature serve under the leadership of co-chairs Gov. Kim Reynolds and Accumold President and CEO Roger Hargens.

The Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council is comprised of 50 members throughout Iowa, including leaders in education, business and industry, nonprofits and state and local government officials. This body of individuals helps guide the overall direction of the STEM Council to increase student interest, enhance engagement and improve STEM achievement in Iowa.
